Weekend in Mystic | FairfieldMoms

We had the pleasure of spending the weekend in Mystic. A quick 1 hr and 15 min ride, a great hotel, with a pool and so much to do throughout the town, put it on your list!

Of course we started with Mystic Pizza, a very family friendly and pretty good pizza with a lot of memorabilia on the walls throughout.

Checked out a local Brewery in an old bank; Bank & Bridge Brewery which had a lot of fun games for the kids!

Then checked into the Hilton which is right off the highway and across the street aquarium and Mystic Village. Great location, rooms are spacious and every kids favorite; a pool! Friday nights they even have a movie projected on the walls in the pool area. The kids relaxed on the lounge chairs around the pool to watch the movie!

The restaurant, The Irons on property was very good for an easy dinner without having to leave the hotel! They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and have a full bar. Great kids menu too!

The kids got goodie bags and the staff was so nice and helpful! The pool opens at 8am and stays open till 9pm. It is also the perfect location from the casinos!

The gym is open 24 hours – for when your kids are sleeping in and you can’t. Fully equipped with a peloton bike!

We had to start the day by going into town for a coffee from Sift Bake Shop and doughnuts from Young Buns Doughnuts.

We got to the Mystic Aquarium right at opening, in case they were going to get busy being a holiday weekend. We made reservations in case it was going to be packed, lucily it was not too busy just yet! It is half outside so bundle up if cold out, but it is a very nice aquarium and the kids loved it! It’s the 4th largest aquarium in the US and the Sea Lion show, three times a day is not to be missed!

Lunch in town at the Samurai Noodle Bar and a little shopping ended with ice cream made it the perfect night away!

The Smith family headed up to Mystic on Saturday and stopped at the Engine Room for lunch.  It’s one of our favorite restaurants (reservations are recommended) right in downtown Mystic.  We then headed over to the Mystic Seaport Museum!  You wouldn’t know it from driving by, but this property is HUGE! Most of the museum is walking around outside to see the boats and the different villages.  We were able to hop onto one of the Whaling ships and the kids were so amazed about how many people were able to sleep on the boat!  We ventured around the village, learned about Whaling, visited the Children’s Museum, hopped around some playscapes and then called it a day.  It was also FREEZING so we made the best of it and Cliff took the baby into all the warm village homes!

After the museum, we headed to check into the Hilton Mystic.  This hotel was so nice and clean and welcoming!  We headed to our room, changed and the kids recharged.  Their rooms are very spacious and included tons of storage as well as a refrigerator.  Perfect for holding our wine, water and milk for the baby.  We got a King Size room, with a pull out sofa for the 2 older kids, and a rollaway crib for the baby.  Plenty of room for the kids to burn off some energy and we couldn’t wait to check out the pool later! We also were on a corner room, so the kids pretty much had their own space to hang out in!

For dinner, we headed back downtown to dinner at Chapter One.  Their menu looked delicious and they also had a great kid’s menu.  I was a bit surprised when we first walked in because all of their tables were high tops, but they had a baby high chair that was fit perfectly for the bar tops – so cool!  So Hudson got to eat right with us!  We had oysters, buffalo dip, a salad and some cajun pasta.  The kids had sliders and pasta – all was SO GOOD!

After dinner, we headed down the street to get some ice cream at Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream.  Back at the Hotel, we all changed into swimsuits and headed down to the pool.  They were playing a movie on the pool deck which was super cool and the kids loved jumping in!  This got them extra tired so we headed back to our room and called it a night!  The next morning we headed to breakfast at The Irons.  They had a full breakfast menu, as well as a fully stocked buffet.  We had pancakes, eggs, bacon, fruit, bagels…you name it!  I’m pretty sure the buffet was one of the kid’s highlights of the weekend!

Thank you for having us Hilton Mystic!  We can’t wait to come back!!
