Join the Town of Fairfield on Saturday July 1st at 9:15pm for their Annual Fireworks Show!!
We are thrilled that Fairfield will be putting on their annual Fireworks show this year! We might be bias, but we think it is one of the BEST shows in Connecticut! If you’ve been to this in prior years or if this is your first year attending, we wanted to give you some tips & info about where to park, beach pass info, traffic info for after the fireworks and what to bring.
Fireworks Show: The fireworks will start off a barge in Long Island Sound about 9:15pm. The fireworks can be seen from Jennings Beach, The Marina, and Penfield Beach. (**You cannot see the fireworks from Sasco Beach, South Pine Creek Beach or Southport Beach, nor can you see it from the hill by Fairfield University anymore)!!
Chairs and Blankets: ANYWHERE is a great place to sit – you can’t go wrong! Chairs / Blankets are allowed to be set up to save your spot on the day of the fireworks. Most families either spend the day at the beach or arrive right around dinner time! Please take down all umbrellas prior to the start of the fireworks as to not block off any views from other beach goers. Please be respectful of other beachgoers items and please turn off your music once the fireworks have started.
The area by the Penfield playground tends to be the most crowded area (especially with the bathrooms and concession stand), same with Jennings Pavillion, so if you’d like a bit more space, head farther away from those areas.
Must-haves for Families: Sunscreen, water, snacks, blankets, strollers or wagons (if you have one) incase it is a long walk back to your car. Be festive – bring glow-in-the-dark items for your kids (also helps keeping an eye on them)! Flashlights also help when navigating the beach after the fireworks are done and for collecting your items. If you have little kids, bring a portable potty with you – lifesaver!
**The fireworks are loud from the beach. If you plan to bring your babies under 2, you might want to bring along some kid headphones to block out the noise. Also, it is a large rush off of the beach after the fireworks show, so keep an eye out for your children. Sometimes it’s better to wait a few minutes and let the beach clear out a bit, and then collect your items to start the walk back.
Grills / Picnic Tables: Beach grills are NOT permitted to be saved / reserved. They are there for the use of everyone attending the fireworks. Picnic tables go fast, so if you’d like to have one, you should plan to get there early in the morning. Please be respectful of other beachgoers items.
Entertainment: From 6pm – 9pm there will be live entertainment from Star 99.9 and WEBE 108 at both Jennings Beach and Penfield Beach.
Restrictions: No fireworks of any kind, including sparklers are allowed on any of the beaches or parking areas. In addition, there is no alcohol, smoking, vaping or portable grills permitted at any Town beach. Police will be strictly monitoring the beach areas for violations.
Parking: Get your town beach passes!! There will be limited daily passes available for first come first serve (300 passes at Jennings Beach and 100 passes at Penfield Beach). Beach Parking lots can be accessed either with a Season Beach Pass or by purchasing a Daily Pass for $50.00 per vehicle (credit card only).
No parking will be permitted on certain streets in the Beach Area (TAKE NOTE OF TEMPORARY NO PARKING SIGNS!) after 5pm the night of the fireworks:
- Old Post Road
- Reef Road – south of Richard White Way (One Rod Highway)
- Penfield Road
- Lalley Blvd
- Rowland Road
- Edward Street
- South Benson Road
- Portions of Fairfield Beach Road
- Riverside Drive
- Turney Road
All streets in the beach area will be strictly enforced for all parking violations and cars in violation will be towed at the owner’s expense. Trust us…don’t chance it and don’t park in a “no parking zone” , even if you have a town beach sticker. Additional parking for visitors can be accessed at the Fairfield Train Station.
Once the fireworks have begun, streets leading FROM the beach area will be turned into “one way” from the Beach to the Post Road. NO TRAFFIC will be permitted to go south of the Post Road until all exiting traffic has cleared (this can last up to an 1hr – plan ahead!). In addition, Rowland Road and Edward Street will be closed to all traffic to allow unrestricted access for emergency vehicles. There will be a TON of walkers…please be cautious with your vehicles when leaving the beach area. For more information from the Fairfield Police Department – read here!
