Hi, my name is Amelia, and I’m here to help you with all things English and Writing! I graduated Cum Laude from Barnard College, Columbia University, and received Departmental Distinction for my thesis. I also have a master’s degree in Humanities from the University of Chicago. I have two years tutoring experience (one-on-one) in English and Writing with 9-12 graders. I worked on a range of topics including grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary, essay structure, literary analysis, proofreading, and writing the college essay.
As a tutor, I strive to make each lesson exciting, enjoyable, and stress-free. Before each lesson, we will outline your goals and work together to achieve them. Throughout the lesson, you will learn how to write clearly and effectively using different texts, prompts and exercises. We will also work on time management and study skills. I believe in empowering you through self-learning; therefore, you will decide what we work on in each lesson, and I’ll be there each step of the way to guide you.
