Where are you originally from and how long have you been in the area?

I am originally from Middletown, CT.   My husband and I moved to Fairfield from Stamford in 2016.  We just fell in love with the beach area.

Children / Age(s)

I have two boys. Evan is 8 and Kellen is 5

One thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I think people would be surprised to know that I was once a sexual assault trauma counselor.  I worked as a Social worker for a non profit agency in Stamford for many years

One thing you wish someone would have told you about motherhood?

I wish someone would have warned me ab the strong/passionate opinions 8 year olds have.

Favorite local things to do in Fairfield?

My absolute favorite thing to do is to sit/play/swim on the beach with my family.  I would like to say relax, but with kids we all know that is impossible!

What’s your favorite thing about raising a family in Fairfield?

I feel that living in our area I get the same “come home when the street lights turn on” as I did growing up. I love that my boys have friends next door, and eventually a short bike ride.  There are so many kids!!  We are so fortunate to have the beach, ice cream, restaurants (OPT is a family fav) and even Saturday evening music on the green a short walk away.

Do you have a favorite family friendly restaurant?  Date night?

OPT is a family fav.  The kids menu is great!  drinks are tasty and my boys look forward to the ice cream sundae at the end!

As for date nights, we just bounce around all over. I do love The Chelsea!

What is your go-to activity for your family?  For yourself?

You can usually find us playing a competitive family game of dodgeball in our backyard! For myself, I love a good Netflix binge. That is more of my guilty pleasure.

Funniest part that you’ve learned about parenthood?

Having boys I would say the funniest part is just the things that come out of my boys mouth. Mostly funny but sometimes embarrassing

Best mom hack that makes your life easier?

Pick your battles!

Name one thing you regret when learning the ropes of parenthood and what you learned from it?

I would say my biggest regret was rushing the baby/toddler phase. I remember after having Evan many people would say “enjoy this it goes by fast” butI was so in whatever phase he was in that I felt like”oh dear god willI ever sleep through the night again”   When I look at Evan and Kellen now I think to myself “Where did the time go”.  So now I learn to enjoy the homework, sport events, holiday tone deaf sing a longs.   I know in a blink these kids won’t be kids anymore.

Tell us about your business, when & why you started, and the reason behind it?

I started my own Hairstyling business called Dews by Gugs in September of 2018.   I have always been very creative and enjoyed creating hairstyles from a very young age.  I also know how busy we all are all the time so let me come to you!

Where did the name Dews by Gugs come from?

My last name is Guglieri and starting a hairdo company it just fit!

If you hadn’t started this business, what do you think you would be doing today?

Well I do work full time as a CLC Educational Trainer at ECC, so I would probably continue working there.

Was it hard to start building a brand while you had children?

I have some great friends in our community who helped me launch this idea. Of course having kids can make make things little challenging but with Dews by Gugs I create my own hours around my kids activities.

Best advice for moms who experience the inevitable MOM GUILT handling a career and a family?

Mom guilt is real.  It’s normal and common. My advice is its OK to feel guilty but at the end of the day you are most likely doing the best thing for your family.  Life is a juggling act and Moms are the jugglers.  My pediatrician once told me “Take care of yourself first because if Mom cracks the whole house comes down”.

Who has most influenced you to be the mother that you are today?

My mom and mother in law.

What advice would you share with a new mom?

If you feel yourself stressed out or losing your patience its OK.  Its OK to feel overwhelmed.  Its OK to question every single decision you make.  Its OK to ignore your husbands parenting opinions.  When your feeling like you may lose your s@it call your good gal pals up and go out for a Fun Mom Dinner.  Its OK to make fun of your kids and husband.
