Meet a Dad – Dr. Matthew LoPresti, Owner of the New SET Straightening an Whitening | FairfieldMoms

Meet a Dad – Dr. Matthew LoPresti, Owner of the New SET Straightening an Whitening.  Matt is the dad to Maranello and Eliana and his wife Elisse is expecting baby #3 later this summer. Matt is a dentist opening his second business this month in Fairfield called SET Straightening and Whitening which focuses exclusively on Invisalign and Whitening. We got to find out about what it’s like being a busy dad and still running a business (or two!). Stop by the Brick Walk to see Matt soon!

Where are you originally from and how long have you been in Fairfield?
I am originally from Lincroft, New Jersey and I have lived in Fairfield for 5 years!

Tell us about your Family!
I am lucky to be married to Elisse for almost 8 years- she is a strong and beautiful mom to our two children- Maranello and Eliana.  We are expecting baby #3 this August!

One thing you wish someone would have told you about fatherhood?
I don’t think you can be fully prepared for fatherhood in both how amazing and sometimes how difficult it can be- you just have to experience it and be open minded.

What’s your favorite thing about raising a family in Fairfield?
The Fairfield community is amazing. It’s such a special place for families with lots to do and we love being able to walk to all of our favorite places.

Best dad hack that makes your life easier?
Stroller walks. It’s such a good way to get a little exercise while keeping the kids occupied or buckled in!

Tell us about your job, when & why you decided to start in this field?
I am a dentist with my main office in Stamford and a new office focused solely on Invisalign and Whitening opening here in Fairfield soon.  My dad is a dentist so growing up I saw how challenging and rewarding the profession can be and naturally I gravitated towards it.

What do you love about your job?  Challenges you face?
I love getting to be both a practitioner and a business owner- it’s a lot of work but really rewarding to help patients with their health but also rewarding to build a team and see those people grow and excel both in work and in their lives.

If you weren’t working in this industry, what do you think you would be doing today?
During the summers while I was in college (Fairfield U ’08), I had a mobile car detailing business. If I didn’t become a dentist I would have seriously considered growing the detailing business.

Best advice for dads who experience the inevitable guilt handling a career and helping support a family?
This would probably be my advice on most family questions- but work on keeping a good open communication between you and your partner. Have a good plan- let it evolve and get support from those around you to be the best husband, father, business owner, team member etc. Do your best and give yourself grace.

Who has most influenced you to be the father that you are today?
Tough question- but I think you pull from the good and the bad you experience to try and give your kids the best environment to thrive.

What advice would you share with a new dad or other dads?
Do your best. It can be a tough balance to be a father with everything else, but it’s the most amazing role you can have.
