Keeping The Kids Active! | FairfieldMoms

Keeping the kids busy is the name of the game these days and at least it’s been nice out to help from going stir crazy! We asked Sara Holland to help give us some helpful hints of what to do with these kids to keep them active!

If you don’t know Sara; Sara Holland Sports is founded on the belief that we are all life-long learners. Sara believes developing a true athlete at any age requires a well-rounded approach that will serve and shape the whole person beyond just physical capabilities. She runs a camp in the summer that my daughter still talks about and can’t wait to get back to! Stay tuned for a Meet a Mom interview with Sara in the future, but for now enjoy her helpful hints to stay sane!

Let’s Move.

Let’s keep kids moving and playing! That way they keep those naps and have a good night sleep.  😉😃

Ideas for 2-12 years old

2-3 years – Love love making noises! bear crawl, crab walk, and practice galloping to and from one room to the next growling and neighing.

4-5 years – They love challenges! Practice pirates plank pose and give a good Arrghh after 10 seconds.

6-7 years – Let’s shoot some hoops! Practice spelling by playing a game of HORSE. Change the word each game and practice family names or food names.

8-9 years – Build an obstacle course! These are capable movers and creators. Give them some objects and let them build something to jump over, run through, throw a ball, etc.

10-12 years – They want to be by themselves (LOL). But, deep down they want you to play with them. Meet them at their level. I recently taught my 11 year old what a Triple Threat meant in basketball. He then went and practiced for 30 minutes.
