2022 Apple season is here!! SEPTEMBER…the leaves are starting to change colors, the weather is cooling down, and apple picking season is here!! A fun activity to do with family or friends, apple picking is a fall staple in New England, so we’ve rounded up our favorite places to visit! Be sure to check out each orchard’s website prior to visiting for their guidelines to practice safe social distancing!
Averill Farm
250 Calhoun Street, Washington, CT
Open for Pick your Own! Daily 9:30am – 5:30pm
A tenth generation family farm offering fall fruits: apples & pears, along with goodies from many area farms as well, from maple syrup, honey, eggs, tomatoes, squash and pumpkins-on a gorgeous hilltop in the beautiful Litchfield Hills of Northwest CT. Don’t forget to try some of their hard cider!
Beardsley’s Cider Mill & Orchard

Check out their farm store for the BEST cider donuts!! Our farm store will be open daily from 10am – 5:30pm with apples, cider, pies, cider donuts, scones, fruit breads and LOCAL RAW HONEY available daily right through until Christmas Eve.

Bishop’s Orchards

Bishop’s Orchards Guilford Farm Market & Winery, 1355 Boston Post Rd. in Guilford is open year round. Bishop’s Orchards Northford Farm at 1920 Middletown Ave in Northford is open weekends and Columbus Day, September through late October (end of apple season) for apple picking, cider, donuts, pies, cookies, and apples. Wine is also available for purchase at their winery!
Blue Hills Orchard
141 Blue Hills Rd. Wallingford (45 min drive from Fairfield)

Blue Hills Orchard has been owned and operated by the Henry family since 1904. Located on the northern slope of Sleeping Giant Mountain, the orchard covers over 300 acres with 250 acres in apple production and another 30 plus in peaches, plums and nectarines.
We have partnered with Massachusetts-based craft cidery, Stormalong Cider, to produce an unfiltered hard cider reminiscent of our farmstand cider pressed and sold at harvest. Store hours are Friday 10am – 6pm, Saturday 10am – 6pm, Sunday 10am – 5pm
Blue Jay Orchards

Drazen Orchards

We feature PYO apples, peaches, plums, pears and blueberries. We invite you to enjoy our farm as much as we do. Take a scenic walk to the picking areas or take a weekend wagon ride. We also have a shady area with picnic tables for your enjoyment. Our farm stand is open August through November from 9 AM to 6 PM. We are open 7 days a week. We have a wide variety of freshly picked fruits and vegetables. We also carry many other items including, apple cider donuts, honey, apple cider, artisan pumpkin and apple pies.
Hickory Hill Orchards

Roger’s Orchards

The Home Farm salesroom, our original location, dates back to 1809. The Sunnymount location began in 1965 when approximately 90 acres of mountainside land was purchased and planted as orchards. Both locations are open daily from late July to mid May and offer our own apples, peaches, nectarines and pears along with the finest Connecticut Grown sweet corn, tomatoes and other vegetables in season. Our bakery features a wide variety of fresh baked fruit pies, our famous apple cider donuts, apple sour cream coffee cakes, and cookies. Our We also feature local honey, maple syrup from Connecticut and Vermont, and our private label jams and jellies.
