Where are you from?

I am originally from Staten Island, New York. I attended Sacred Heart university and never left bc I loved Fairfield so much. I am a widow and mother of two amazing kids, and proud auntie to my niece Savannah.  My daughter Sienna is 18 and attends Marist College, my son Hudson is 13 and loves basketball.

Tell us your story:

I have been a Sonographer for over 10yrs and work at the Vein Institute.

After the loss of my parents and husband, a new version of me was born, wanting to help others on their spiritual journey. Turning my pain into purpose and wounds into wisdom, I have become a certified life coach specializing in grief and mindset. I offer many services which include sound healing, reiki, and birth chart readings. I hold wellness classes out of Yoga4everybody in Fairfield and Haus of Hush in Greenwich. I also offer private events.

As it is Breast Cancer Awareness month we heard you are a  “previvor” if you feel comfortable tell us your story? It could help some women in the community!

After losing my mother to cancer, I chose to be tested for the BRCA mutation. Upon founding out I was positive, I chose to undergo a prophylactic double mastectomy.

Undergoing a prophylactic double mastectomy was a significant and deeply personal experience. Initially, there were a whirlwind of emotions—relief at taking preventive action, but also anxiety about the surgery and its implications for my body and identity.

The preparation phase often includes consultations with various specialists, genetic testing, and discussions about recovery and reconstruction options. On the day of the surgery, my feelings ranged from fear to determination.

After the procedure, recovery was physically and emotionally challenging. I experienced a lot of emotions  like sadness and a sense of loss, but also empowered. I had to find new ways to embrace my new body. I had to shift my mindset to gratitude that I had options to give me peace of mind to know I’ve done everything I can to be around for my kids. Something my mother did not have.  Support from loved ones and medical professionals was crucial for me during this time.

In her memory of my mother,  I am now a member of the Norma Pfriem Presidents Council, helping to bring awareness of the journey of previvors like myself.

Tell us about the different services that you offer as a life coach.

A sound bath is exactly what it sounds like, you are bathing in healing frequencies that allow for healing on a cellular level releasing any stagnant energy in the body. Sound healing was so helpful for me during my healing journey and now I share it with others to help them on their healing journey.

I also wrote a book “the woke widow” a memoir that shares my BRCA and grief journey will be out in 2025.

What is your background and what did you do before these career choices?

That its a mix of immense joy and overwhelming challenges. There’s no perfect way to parent. Trust yourself and give yourself grace.

Love living in a beach town, growing up I did not have that and love that my kids get to experience it.

Best mom hack that makes your life easier?

Lots of great friends to help along the way! It takes a village.

Best advice for moms who experience the inevitable MOM GUILT handling a career and raising a family?

I wish I knew the answer to this but it’s so hard! I would say communication- I’m always checking in with my kids making sure they feel seen or if they need a “mom day” where I just spend one on one time with them and do their favorite things with them.

Who has most influenced you to be the mom that you are today?

My mother 100% she was the absolute best mother and I miss her very much. I hope she is proud of the mother I am today.

What advice would you share with a new mom or other moms?

To feel guilty taking time for yourself. When you are feeling good it ripples to your kids.
