Where are you originally from and how long have you been in Fairfield?
I am from Kansas City, born and raised. I moved here in 2007.
Tell us about your Family!
I have a 14 year old girl named Greer who attends GFA. Two boys, Reid is 13 and attends Ludlowe Middle school and Bodie is 8 and attends Dwight Elementary. Greer loves playing field hockey and loves to travel. Reid plays soccer and loves video games. Bodie enjoys lax and golf lessons at Fairchild wheeler. We also have two aussidoodle puppies that keep us very busy, we can be found walking them all over town.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I use to be a Trauma Nurse
One thing you wish someone would have told you about motherhood?
I was told! I am not sure I listened. It goes so fast, I know it is said all the time, but I cannot believe how fast it has gone and I remember them being little and at preschool like it was yesterday. I wish I slowed down and enjoyed the days more
What’s your favorite thing about raising a family in Fairfield?
I love our town, I think we are so lucky to have access to the beaches, a great downtown that the kids can walk to and access to the city via trains. It is a great town that feels small but has so much to offer as far as restaurants and FTC.
Best mom hack that makes your life easier?
Crock pot. I have go to recipes I make on the morning that are ready when I get home. After working all day, meeting with clients, on the road and running two businesses if dinner still needed to be made at the end of the day, we would have a lot of take out!
Tell us about your business, and when & why you decided to start up this business?
I have owned Tusk Home + Design since 2011. I started as just me offering interior design services in Fairfield after I received my Residential and Professional Interior Design Certificates from Fairfield University. Tusk then grew and opened a location in Westport with design offices and a furniture showroom. While we loved offering retail options for our clients in Westport, our business really is custom home Interior Design and Build. We specialize in renovations, new builds and full interior design services. We decided during the pandemic to move our offices and storefront out of Westport to Southport, we downsized the retail side and built a large interior design studio to accommodate our clients and our growing build side.
Trumpet is a new baby for me! I opened Trumpet in August. After speaking with some friends and their daughters as wells my own daughter we decided their was a need in Fairfield for wallet friendly options for girls and their moms to shop together for clothing. 
What do you offer at Tusk and what at Trumpet?
Tusk is a high end residential and commercial interior design and build firm. We specialize in renovations and new builds and whole home interior design as well as design for commercial spaces. We also have a small showroom open to the public full of unique accessories and home furnishings.
Trumpet offers cost friendly options for tweens, teen girls and women and we are excited to announce in the next month or so will be offering clothes for baby, toddler, children and MEN!
Tell us about the different services you handle at Tusk.
Renovations…we are able to fully renovate an entire home, taking it down to the studs and starting fresh. We love renovating kitchens and bathrooms!
New builds..we start at the beginning, working alongside the architect to bring a new build to life. From the dirt to the final product complete with furnishings and accessories.
Interior Design..clients don’t always need to renovate or build. We also love to transform spaces with paint, wallpaper, furnishings and accessories. .
Commercial Design …doctors offices, restaurants, hotels and offices.
Tell us about Trumpet:
Trumpet is located near Southport Village, across from Equinox and Grey Goose. We carry so many brands for girls and women that are more wallet friendly, such as Katie J, French Connection, Joes Jeans, Blanco by Nature, and so many others. We also have Love Shack Fancy for a little more of a splurge. We are open Tuesday thru Friday 11-5 and Saturday 11-4.
By next month we will have a whole room dedicated to baby and child and in the Spring we will have menswear.

Best advice for moms who experience the inevitable MOM GUILT handling a career and raising a family?
It is hard. We are very lucky to have a nanny who has been with us for 9 years and I could not do what I do without her. That being said…
Who has most influenced you to be the mom that you are today?
I would say my mom. She kept things fun, but also was strict when she needed to be. She encouraged me to travel, never said no to any crazy idea I had and was my biggest cheerleader and supporter.
What advice would you share with a new mom or other moms?
Enjoy it, but make sure you live your life too! Don’t forget to take time for yourself, don’t forget to do things that you love and keep you feeling alive and fulfilled. Kids need a happy mom, whatever that means to you!
