We have learned over the years how extremely important it is to have a Financial Advisor. We were lucky enough to meet Michelle Hobart; Financial Advisor with Ameriprise Financial Services here in Fairfield. It is all about organizing and putting the right plan in place for our future. Some plans are extremely complex and some are just a matter of organizing and being pointed in the right direction. But a lot of us need to find someone who can do just that! When meeting a financial advisor we are interviewing them just as they are trying to help us so make sure you do your homework and ask all the questions at the first appointment! Michelle is not only trying to help in the Financial world she is also juggling it all as mom of 2 here in Fairfield and a big lover of the Fairfield!

One thing people would be surprised to know about you?
With me there is not much that surprises people… And people who know me know everything about me. I wear my heart on my sleeve and I am not much for small talk, I love talking about all the things that really matter in life.
Favorite local things to do in Fairfield?
I love jogging down to Penfield, I jump on the Jacky Durrell Pavilion. Seeing the Long Island Sound helps center me and get me ready for the day.
What’s your favorite thing about raising a family in Fairfield?
I love how everything is at your fingertips. My daughter and I have had our best bonding time riding our bikes to the beach. My son and I have had great quality time walking to Saugatuck Sweets. And you may have seen my husband Pat, on his seafoam green scooter! You can’t beat family life here in Fairfield!
Do you have a favorite family friendly restaurant? Date night?
Family friendly would have to be Flipside. Date night hands down Martel for buck a shuck. My husband and I will order 40 shucks and not think twice!
What is your go-to activity for your family? For yourself?
Go to activity for family would be beach for sure. For myself going to the beach ALONE!
Also, my husband and I are obsessed with cooking. We pride ourselves on the best New England lobster bakes!
Best mom hack that makes your life easier?
I am still working on that!
Name one thing you regret when learning the ropes of parenthood and what you learned from it?
Freaking out and googling everything. We have too much information these days!
Tell us about your business, when & why you started, and the reason behind it?
I am a Financial Planner with Ameriprise. For the past 20 plus years I have worked as an Advisor with various banks. Working as an independent advisor provides me with the tools to make my business more personal. Financial Planning is a very important part of people’s lives, it is personal.
I studied political science at University of Rhode Island and the first few years of my career were in New York City. My first job as an advisor was at Citigroup. I actually tried other career paths, once as a caterer and once as an elementary school teacher in Palm Beach area of Florida. I always came back to Financial Services because I enjoy getting to know people, asking the right questions, and ultimately putting a solution in place. I strongly believe that getting to know someone personally tells so much about what financial solutions will provide the greatest benefit. I truly love my job and I can honestly say it doesn’t feel like work.
